What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an effective system of medicine based on the understanding that the body (human or animal) has an innate capacity to restore balance when given the right kind of input. It is based on “the principle of likeness”, meaning that the cause of symptoms can also be used in the treatment of associated conditions.

Homeopathic remedies are made from natural substances, but through a process of dilution and “succussion”, they retain only the energetic or informational imprint of the original material, not its chemical mass.

What is “Folk” Homeopathy?

Folk Homeopathy is a traditional, intuitive approach to healing that uses highly diluted natural substances to support the health and well-being of animals. It’s part of a broader set of folk methods — ways of caring that come from community knowledge, hands-on experience, and a deep trust in nature’s rhythms.

Unlike conventional medicine, which relies on lab measurements, controlled testing, and statistical outcomes, folk methods place trust in subtle energies, observation, and the lived experiences of ordinary people. They recognize that healing isn’t always measurable, and that not everything valuable can be quantified.

This approach empowers individuals to care for themselves, their families, and their animals without relying solely on institutional systems or so-called experts. My goal is to help restore confidence in our ability to understand and respond naturally to what is usually called "dis-order” or imbalance. Folk homeopathy invites us to reconnect with inherited wisdom, trust our instincts, and engage directly in the care of those we love.

  • Folk Homeopathy Session with Whitney Showalter, Pet Homeopathic Educator:

    Initial/Basic Homeopathy Intake for Animals

    1. Initial Consultation
The process begins with a consultation where you will provide details about your pet’s health history, including:

    Current and past medical conditions.

Symptoms or concerns you want to address.

    Behavioral observations.

    Diet and lifestyle information.

This information helps the homeopath understand your pet’s specific needs.

    2. Comprehensive Evaluation
A thorough evaluation will consider your pet’s overall health, not just their symptoms. Expect questions about:

    • Behavior and temperament.

    • Changes in energy levels, appetite, or sleep.

    • Sensitivities to environmental factors like temperature or noise.

    • This helps identify the most appropriate remedy for your pet.

    3. Remedy Selection
Based on the consultation, a remedy will be seleted that is tailored to your pet’s unique profile. Homeopathic remedies are chosen to match your pet's physical and emotional state and to promote balance.

    4. Remedy Administration
You will receive instructions on how to administer the selected remedy. Remedies are typically given orally, and instructions will ensure ease of use for your pet.

    5. Follow-up and Monitoring
Homeopathy often requires ongoing monitoring. Expect follow-up consultations to track your pet's progress, adjust treatment as needed, and address any changes or concerns.

    6. Ongoing Support
The homeopath will remain available for any questions or clarifications throughout the treatment process. Adjustments to the remedy may be made based on your pet’s response.

This process is designed to be straightforward and focused on providing a targeted, effective treatment plan for your pet’s health. If you have any questions or need further clarification, feel free to reach out.

Homeopathy Session with Whitney and Claire Rad, Animal Communicator and Messenger:

    1. Intake & Preparation
First you will send us your question(s)/concern(s) about your animal for review, along with a recent photo of your pet. Then you'll receive back a detailed intake questionnaire to complete, covering your pet’s health history, behavior, and energy. Claire and Whitney will carefully review this information together. If anything needs clarification, they will reach out to you before the session to ensure a full understanding.

    2. The Live Session
Claire and Whitney will then do a live or near-live session (virtual), where they’ll ask questions directly about your pet—sometimes with you present, if you wish. This is an interactive process where they tune into your pet’s physical and energetic state, gathering insights to inform the best homeopathic approach. This can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, in general.

    3. Remedy Analysis & Recommendation
Following the session, Whitney will analyze all the information and impressions collected to select the most suitable homeopathic remedy for your pet’s unique needs.

    4. Detailed Follow-Up Instructions
Whitney will send you comprehensive guidance, including links, lists of supplies, and clear instructions on how to prepare and administer the remedy at home. We want you to feel confident and supported throughout the process. Please reach out anytime via email with questions to whitneyanne@protonmail.com, even after follow-up.

    5. Post-Session Support
Healing is a journey, so Whitney will personally check in with you at least three times after the session to monitor your pet’s progress, answer questions, and adjust recommendations if needed. This ongoing support helps maximize the benefits of the remedy and addresses any concerns along the way.

  • How to Prepare and Administer a Homeopathic Remedy in Water:

    You will need:

    -   Homeopathic remedy vial or pellet

    -   Clean glass dropper bottle (preferably amber or dark glass, 30 ml/1oz size)

    -   Pure spring water or distilled water (avoid tap water if possible)

    -   Clean hands

    Step-by-Step Instructions:

    1.  Prepare Your Workspace:
Wash your hands thoroughly or wear clean gloves. Work in a clean, calm space free from strong odors or distractions.

    2.  Fill the Dropper Bottle:
Pour about 20–30 ml of pure spring or distilled water into the clean glass dropper bottle. Leave some air space at the top—don’t fill it completely.

    3.  Add the Remedy:
Place 1–3 (or as directed) homeopathic pellets directly into the dropper bottle. DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS. Tip the pellet directly from the homeopathic remedy container cap into the bottle.

    4.  Close the Bottle Securely:
Make sure the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leaks during succussion.

    5.  Succuss the Remedy:
Hold the bottle firmly in one hand. With the other hand, strike the bottom of the bottle sharply against a clean, firm surface (like a hardcover book or a padded table or the palm of the hand). The motion should be controlled but firm—like a quick, confident “tap” or “knock.”
Repeat this striking motion 10 times.

    6.  Store Properly:
After succussing, store the dropper bottle in a cool, dark place away from strong electromagnetic fields (like cell phones or microwaves) and direct sunlight. Label with full remedy name, potency, and date. Can be stored for 5 days in the refrigerator. If you are still using the same remedy after 5 days, simply rinse the bottle and dropper well and repeat initial preparation.

    Usage:

Use the prepared water remedy as directed, typically by administering a few drops orally or mixing into your pet’s water or food, following the guidance provided by your practitioner. Each time the remedy is given, it must be successed as it was in the initial preparation.

It is better to put drops directly in your pet's mouth, preferably on the gums, but if your pet is at all distressed by this, put one dropper-full on a tiny treat in a clean bowl (it will spill over the treat but that is totally fine; hopefully your pet will lick most of it up, but it doesn't take much!).

  • Dosing in homeopathy works differently than most are used to. More is not better. Because these remedies act at a subtle, energetic level, giving too much or too often can actually interfere with the body’s ability to respond. The goal is not to overwhelm, but to give just enough information at the right time to allow a natural correction to unfold.

Instead of chemically forcing a change, a homeopathic remedy offers a signal—something the body can recognize and respond to. When the right remedy is chosen, it can prompt a shift that supports deep, lasting healing.Animals tend to respond well to homeopathy. Their reactions are often clear and unfiltered, making it easier to observe whether a remedy is working. I’ve seen meaningful changes in anxiety, digestion, skin conditions, and recovery from injury—not through suppression, but by helping the body reestablish its own internal order.

Whether we’re working with people or animals, the principle is the same: homeopathy doesn’t force healing—it supports the body’s ability to find its own way back to balance.

Homeopathy might sound daunting at first, especially with its subtle, unique, and highly individualized approach, but once you dive in, it becomes incredibly self-empowering. The process may feel new and unfamiliar at first, but after using it just once, it starts to click. You’ll find that understanding how to support your pet’s health naturally becomes more intuitive with each step. It's a unique and wonderful process that not only helps restore balance but also strengthens your connection to your pet's needs, allowing you to trust your instincts and feel more confident in your ability to support their well-being.

  • ALL REMEDIES MUST BE GIVEN AT LEAST 15 MINUTES AWAY FROM FOOD.

DO NOT REPEAT OR CHANGE DOSE UNLESS DIRECTED BY PRACTITIONER.

DO NOT ADD WATER TO THE BOTTLE AFTER YOU HAVE USED THE REMEDY ONCE OR MORE.
